SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTSSS - a little something to lighten the Monday blues
A little something to lighten the Monday blues
Finally almost.... HAPPY FAMILY!
(if you haven't realize...)
MR/MS Blondie (SPONGEBOB)
Large blue eyes, long curvy nose and a cute bucktooth smile.
Kind and good nature but ignorant and a constant annoyance (well at least to Squidward)
Well.. heck ya YOUR'RE FAMOUS!
MR Dumb (PATRICK) Josh Grad in "1600 Penn"
Dumb, ignorant and overweight
but nice and a hell of a friend
The Cynic (SQUIDWARD)
Sarcastic, superior to others
and yes you are always misunderstood
well you're intelligent and educated
You could get any of the above with min purchase of $60 in a single same day receipt at retail/ F&B or $80 in single same day receipt at supermarkets in public Changi Airport Areas.
and yes it a little marketing tactic on Changi Airport Group to spur up shopping sentiments, getting the little children to irritate the hell out of their parents to buy or as an extra incentive (freebie) to purchase in the airport.
but who would mind purchasing a wide variety of GST free items in the airport with this little incentive?
Well, these characters that did grew up with, influenced by and shaped little children or child at heart...

Prison Vs National Service (NS)
DISCLAIMER: With due respect, the above does not indicate my personal accusation towards our National service (I wouldn't want to get myself into any legal complications).

I stumbled upon this incredibly outrageous video through a share by my lecturer during my Ethics and Governance lecture.
Coupled with some friend's POP (Passing out parade) just ending on Saturday 11 Jan 2014, I cant help but start pondering...
Coupled with some friend's POP (Passing out parade) just ending on Saturday 11 Jan 2014, I cant help but start pondering...
This is a video of about 13 mins but i assure it it is WORTH your time.
The video is about a sociologist that carried out a observation experiment regarding prisoners and their wardens.
Respondents were gathered through advertising over the papers and were further split into 2 categories
1) wardens
2) prisoners
and from there on everything that happened is history but REAL.
Could a delegation of pseudo power really change someone so drastically and make individuals do things they never imagine they would do?
Could such a potential situation occur or have occurred in our military?

Five Star Tours sudden closure, ethical?
I am sure you and I both have heard of the recently news of Five Star Tour travel agency's sudden closure?
It has led many hundreds if not thousands stranded, worried if they could reimburse their bookings.
Recent updates from CASE (Consumer Association of Singapore) adapted from http://sg.news.yahoo.com/popular-travel-agency-five-star-tours-abruptly-shuts-down-033549516.html
have indicated that customers with unfulfilled trips professionally can make claims through travel insurance or file claims through the Small Claims Tribunal or CASE.
Yes indeed, CASE have reacted promptly and in this aspect but i cant help but to start pondering and questioning of the ethics of businesses in Singapore, in particular travel agencies.
From the above link, I have adapted some quotes from respondents interviewed by the article's journalist as well as the comments of victims from yahoo.

2 Types of Fear appeal and your not so typical type of 'FEAR'
Firstly There are 2 things that you should know about fear appeal..
It pinpoints the negative consequences occurred by..

3 things nobody told you about feeling Guilty
1) It is used in marketing.
Be it in an advertising message to motivate people to act accordingly or to use a particular product for guilt relieving, it exists and is widely used.
2) It motivates people to be responsible
Well.. remember when was the last time you felt guilty and corrected yourself or your actions in order to reduce your guilt?
3) It can be ineffective.
If the guilt lacks credibility or appears manipulative, people will see through it and ignore it.

A Classical experimental research with a strong message
As simple as this, it has demonstrated the realism of "selfishness" and "MYOBness"; mind your own business mindsets in people today. I am sure you and i are both guilty of it at times. After watching this video, it might have, to a certain degree, left you into a state of guilty reflection. "Did it occur to me before?", " "Am i guilty of it?", would be swirling inside of you at the moment.
Well If it does...
This advertisement certainly did what it was intended to.
To know about how I feel about what this ad's intentions, follow me on my next post :p

6 Things you never knew about Sex appeal
1. It is widely used and explicitly
Sexual explicitness represents part of the advertising landscape in the recent years and is prevalent in Brazil, in the United States and certain European countries. As seen from my previous video post; SEX appeal.
Could the Asian countries be using this widely?
2. It can attract and hold attention for a longer period
Featuring attractive models in provocative poses, would not only attract the opposite sexes, and also the same sexes too. It is called relatability.
3. It enhances recall of message
If the sexual content is appropriate to the product category.
4. It evokes emotional responses such as arousal and lust.
These can somehow increase an advertisement's persuasiveness.
5. It can elicit positive or negative reactions
This depends on the relevance of the sexual content to the advertised message.
6. It may interfere with processing of message and comprehension
Would you be offended by advertisements that portray women and men as brainless sex objects?

How to identify a "Do-able" idea?
The ultimate entrepreneur's goal is to find the best idea to fit the gap that is in demand in the market. How do we go about it?
There are 3 factors that should be considered regarding the idea.
They are...
1) Cost effectiveness (how economical is the idea?)
2) Prestige (in reference to social norms, how well regarded is the idea?)
3) Awareness (how many people in the population is aware of your idea?)
You can plot the factors individually in a 3 dimension graph
1) Cost effectiveness - X axis
2) Prestige -Y axis
If the area where your idea is, is swarmed with competitors, you might want to think again.
Unless of course your idea is niche, brilliant and that demand is apparent.
(Pardon me for the graph cos I used paint to create it)
You must be wondering why the title of my first post is not about this blog. In fact, if you observe carefully, I truly believe that creating this blog is not only cost effective, the marketing content would also very high relevant and regarded. Well... the awareness is up to you to help me share the word of mouth if you truly find it helpful =)
